“Reality can be whatever I want.” – Thanos, Avengers – Infinity War.

Wow… What a thought-provoking statement by Thanos, isn’t it? I am sure you don’t need an introduction to Thanos. But if you do, he was one of the most powerful characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

You generally don’t expect such gems from a villain, do you? Well, this statement is not just a gem, a demonstration of power, but also a metaphor for the control that each one of us has over our own lives. Hard to believe? Napoleon Hill once famously said, “Whatever a Human mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” This is from his famous book Think and Grow Rich which came into existence after years and years of research and study of hundreds of successful people around the world.

This same concept can be applied to our daily lives, by relating our behaviours and attitudes to the 6 Infinity Stones from the Avengers – each representing a unique and a powerful quality which, when combined, has the power to make us unstoppable. Let’s delve into these ‘infinity stones’ from our daily lives, and discover how we can harness their power to create the reality we desire.

1. The Power Stone (Red)

One who has the Power Stone can derive immense strength and energy capable of causing or preventing destruction on a massive scale, depending on the intentions of the user. Self Confidence and Self Belief play the same role in our life. The strength that self-confidence and self-belief gives us is what takes us forward in our life, helps us overcome obstacles and reach our goals. It helps us unlock our inner strength, face challenges head-on and capitalize on opportunities that come our way.

So, how do we build self-confidence and self-belief? Building self-confidence and self-belief is a process. It’s about small, consistent efforts that lead to significant changes over a period of time. Some things that you can do are: Set and achieve small goals, pay attention to your inner dialogue – replace negative talks with positive ones, try new things, learn from your failures, surround yourself with people who uplift you and support you, take care of your mental and physical health, remind yourself of your past achievements, seek constructive feedback and always be willing to learn.

And if ever you think you need some inspiration, listen to this dialogue of Iron Man, “I am Iron Man.” First superhero I saw that spoke about him being a superhero openly. For me, this simple declaration is not just about his identity; it’s a statement of self-assurance and acceptance of his capabilities and responsibilities.

2. The Space Stone (Purple)

With its ability to bend space, the Space Stone reminds us of the importance of open-mindedness and flexibility. As this stone transcends physical realms, we must strive to transcend our mental barriers. As Hawkeye said, “The city is under siege, we’re fighting an army of robots… and I have a bow and arrow. None of this makes sense.” This shows that he is flexible, emphasizing the importance of coping up with the unexpected.

Start by accepting the fact that change is bound to happen, be curious about the world around you, try doing new things, understand and appreciate others point of view, respect different perspectives, if something doesn’t go as planned then instead of getting frustrated, find an alternate solution, seek feedback, reflect and stay positive.

3. The Reality Stone (Yellow)

The Reality Stone alters fact, but in our lives, we ought to uphold honesty and integrity, the cornerstones of a genuine existence. Be genuine to yourself and others, as authenticity shapes the world round you. As Captain America wisely said, “I can do this all day,” showing his unwavering commitment to his principles, irrespective of the demanding situations he faces.

Reflect on your values and beliefs and assess whether your actions align with these values, keep your promises, be truthful, admit when you make a mistake, avoid gossips, practice ethical decision making and be transparent.

4. The Soul Stone (Green)

The Soul Stone is linked to the essence of life. And if we have to relate this to our daily lives, it signifies the importance of empathy and compassion. Understanding and sharing the feelings of others is not a sign of weakness but of profound strength. It is important for creating deeper connections with others around us.

How do you build compassion and empathy? Listen actively to people, put yourself in others shoes, show genuine interest in people and their stories, avoid jumping to conclusions, engage in acts of kindness by helping people, reflect on your reactions, seek first to understand and work on developing emotional intelligence.

5. The Time Stone (Orange)

The Time Stone controlled the flow of time. It teaches us to value time, be patient and persistent. We should recognize time as a precious resource. While many of us say that Time is Money, may be now is the time to start treating time as money. Use time to do things that will help us achieve our goals in our life. Be persistent through challenges. When you face obstacles and setbacks, don’t give up. Keep going through. Remember, “If you are going through hell, keep going.” Don’t stop.

How to put this in action? Large goals can feel overwhelming and lead to impatience, break them into smaller ones, practice meditation as it will help you stay calm and patient, persistence is often a result of habit, so create your routines, be grateful for what you have, focus on circle of influence and not on the circle of concern.

6. The Mind Stone (Blue)

Finally, the Mind Stone. It symbolizes our capacity for thought and consciousness. It’s a reminder for us to continuously learn and grow. Stay curious, seek knowledge, and embrace personal development. As Bruce Banner put it, “That’s my secret, Captain: I’m always angry.” Channel your energy into a relentless pursuit of learning and growth.

Be curious to learn new things, set learning goals, read, read and read, reflect on your daily lives and what you learnt from it, be open to new ideas, seek feedback to learn and improve, stay updated in your field of work, network with others and make use of online resources.

And in the center of these stones, like the gauntlet, is balance – we need to balance these behaviours to create a harmonious and fulfilling life. As Thanos himself said, “Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.” Let us strive for this balance in our lives.

In the end, unlike the Avengers’, our story isn’t about conflict; it’s about growth, it’s about unity. By developing these key behaviours – confidence and self-belief, open-mindedness and adaptability, honesty and integrity, empathy and compassion, patience and persistence, and continuous learning – we can wield the power to not only enhance our lives but also to positively impact lives of those around us.

So, let’s wear the gauntlet with these stones in our hand and as we do, we might just find ourselves becoming the superheroes of our own stories and our own lives.

Act now – the universe of your potential is waiting.
