Imagine you get your hands on a brand new Ferrari.
With one of the most powerful engines, with a top speed that you would only dream to drive at and ya, no issues with respect to the import duties on that (aie la...) You take your Ferrari and decide to go on a long drive and yes since this is fictional, with the date of your choice… you can thank me for that… you are cruising at a speed of 120 kms an hour on one of the national highways (didn’t I tell you this is fictional) and you reach a place where you have to climb a hill. You say to yourself that with the power at your disposal, this should be a cake walk… can’t say a cake ride.. people are not used to that; they will discard the idea of a cake ride because it doesn’t make as much sense as the cake walk…(you see that!!!)
Just as you feel you are gonna cruise through this hill, you see an enormous trailer right in front of you, struggling to climb up the hill, moving at a snails pace. It’s so huge that you have no space to overtake the trailer or that truck… WHAT THE … you honk and honk and honk but the only thing that gathers pace is your frustration. Frustration of being stuck in one of the most powerful machines and not being able to race ahead because of a trailer that is finding it difficult to move up the hill.
What if you are not in a Ferrari but in a corporate? What if the trailer is not a trailer but your leader? What if you are not able to race ahead because your leader is bogged down by the weight of things around him and neither is he able to move forward nor lets you move forward? What happens next? How long would you be comfortable moving ahead at that snails pace when you know that you have the potential to race ahead? You will wait for an opportunity to over take the trailer, leave that trailer behind and move ahead in your life. Isn’t it? It sounds like such a simple thing to do. But the question is, Is it really that simple?
Overtaking involves an element of risk. How open are you to take that risk?
How open are you to overtake and race ahead?
Or you wanna be in your comfort zone and move forward in your life at that speed knowing the fact that you have the potential for much more.
I want to leave you with this thought… this question… what would you do?
Would you race ahead the moment you get a chance to or would you make yourself comfortable with the speed of the trailer? Would you want to be a trailer for someone else in a Ferrari?
They say life is a matter of choice. What would you choose???
